THE KID EXPERIENCE

Enlightening’s programming for Kids is designed for students ages 5 through 8, and it emphasizes taking care of ourselves and the world around us.  The curriculum is a blend of arts and sciences to feed our brains and imagination, with a little outdoor recreation to keep our bodies healthy, too.  All of it wizard-style, of course!

Some of the Enlightening Programming & Activities for the Kids:
  • Custom design your own wand, pointed black hat, and work robes to wear to all your classes.
  • Prepare to get dirty as we prune and re-pot some dangerous plant species in Magical Herbs (E7 will provide dragon-hide gloves and earmuffs as needed).
  • Create your own Book of Monsters in Caring for your Magical Creatures.
  • Perfect your balance and concentration skills in Defensive Arts.
  • Sharpen your skills measuring ingredients and following recipes as we find out what's cooking in Potionmaking (standard size 2 pewter cauldrons provided).
  • Participate in Pennitch - E7's wizard sport - as we teach the fundamentals, rules of the game, and scorekeeping (since first years are not allowed their own broomsticks, you may choose one of the school-owned models).
  • Attend a red-carpet, IMAX-3D showing of the film Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix with your family.
  • Join in the many activities and games at E7 PremiereFest Friday evening, including a live podcast by MuggleCast and a Wizard Rock concert starring the Moaning Myrtles (see Family Experience page for more PremiereFest details).
  • Compete against other houses in the Quad-Wizard Family Tournament, where families must overcome physical, mental and social challenges in record-breaking time
  • Invent your own spells - complete with wand movements and incantations - in a Spellcasting workshop.
  • Watch for your very own E7 invitation to be delivered by Owl Post several weeks before camp.
