FOOD & BEVERAGE

The family-style Welcoming Feast on Thursday evening and traditional English breakfast Closing Feast on Sunday morning are included with each registration.  For the remainder of their meals, families have a variety of options ranging from an on-campus dining hall to award-winning restaurants in the surrounding multi-cultural University City area.

Dining Hall

E7 families can enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner in the 1920
Commons, Penn's premier residential dining hall. Meals are served in an all-you-can-eat buffet style, and kids will especially love the make-your-own ice cream sundae bar. The 1920 Commons is located near the high-rise dormitories but is available to all E7 participants regardless of where they are lodging. Extensive service hours from early morning to late at night as well as customized meal plans make the dining hall a flexible and convenient option. Meal plan packages can be purchased in advance or on site per meal, per day (3 meals) or any combination desired. A daily meal package costs around $32 per person for three meals per day, and less with fewer than three meals (i.e., only breakfast or only breakfast and dinner).

For breakfast, the dining hall offers cooked-to-order eggs, bacon, sausage, Belgian waffles, hot and cold cereal, and an assortment of fresh fruits pastries and juices.  For lunch, offerings typically include soups, vegetable and pasta salads, burgers, deli sandwiches, grilled chicken, hot entrees, pizza, Philly's famous cheesesteaks, as well as fresh fruit and baked goods.  Dinner menus feature a changing selection of hot entrees, pasta dishes, grilled meats, stir-fries, vegetable dishes, salad bar and desserts.

Houston Market

Another on-campus dining option for families is the food-court-style Houston Market. The Houston Market is located on the lower level of Houston Hall (where most of the E7 classes and activities take place) and is the perfect place to grab lunch or snacks between programming. The five made-to-order eating establishments in Houston Market offer a vast array of reasonably priced foods including soups, salads, sandwiches, pasta, pizza, burgers and grilled sandwiches, French fries, sushi, noodle bowls, and fresh fruits, vegetables and baked goods.  The Houston Market accepts cash only.

Other Restaurants

Both on-campus hotels offer restaurants that are open to the public. The Inn at Penn's Penne Restaurant & Wine Bar serves award-winning meat and pasta dishes, while The University Club at Penn offers a contemporary breakfast or brunch. The Pallet in the Sheraton offers upscale dining for breakfast or dinner.

Its location in the culturally diverse University City District places U Penn within walking distance of dozens of unique and wonderful restaurants.  One must-visit restaurant is Cereality, the famous cereal bar and cafe. Located on Walnut Street in the heart of campus, this unique establishment draws the young and young-at-heart to create their own breakfast combination from the many hot and cold cereals, toppings, and choice of milk (including soy and lactose-free).
